This consolidation drastically reduces the number of cables, conduits, and combiner box inputs required for a large-scale installation.

2. Key Specifications Decoded:

1500V: The maximum DC voltage rating, designed for modern high-voltage string inverters and central inverters that operate at system voltages up to 1500V DC to minimize energy loss.

3. How It Is Used:

5. Critical Considerations & Installation Notes:

Fusing is NON-NEGOTIABLE (The Most Critical Rule):

Paralleling four strings creates a significant potential fault current. A short circuit in one string could have reverse current fed into it from the three other healthy strings. This current will far exceed the ampacity of the faulted string's wiring, creating an extreme fire hazard.

Solution: Each of the four input legs must be protected by its own overcurrent protection device (OCPD), almost always a fuse. This is typically done using in-line MC4 fuse holders on each input cable before it plugs into the branch connector. The fuse must be sized per NEC guidelines (typically 1.56 x Isc of one string).

Current Rating: The connector itself has a maximum current rating (e.g., 50A, 60A). The sum of the maximum currents from the four parallel strings must not exceed this rating.

Cable Sizing: The output cable from the branch connector must be sized to handle the full combined current of all four strings (Imp x 4) plus any necessary derating factors, and must be sized to limit voltage drop over the run to the combiner box.

Voltage Rating: The system's maximum voltage must be at or below the 1500V rating.

Professional Installation Mandatory: Must be installed with the proper MC4 crimping tool to ensure full contact, low resistance, and a waterproof seal. Loose connections will overheat and fail.
