The primary function is identical to the short L-Foot: to serve as the critical structural link between the roof's framing and the aluminum rails that hold the solar panels. The key difference is the longer vertical leg ("stand" or "riser"), which creates a significant gap between the roof deck and the bottom of the solar panels.

2. Key Characteristics:

Shape: Right-angled "L" shape with a tall vertical section.

"Long" Design: The extended height is its defining feature. This elevation is crucial for several functional reasons, not just aesthetics.

Material: Almost always made from hot-dip galvanized steel for maximum strength and corrosion resistance, as it must handle higher leverage forces due to its height.

Pre-Drilled Holes: Features holes for large lag bolts (to anchor into roof rafters) and slots for rail bolts (to allow for adjustment when attaching the mounting rail).
